With a diameter of 140 cm, a height of 80 cm and a total weight of 50 kg, the light Phoenix Kariel is a true masterpiece. The ceiling composition, consisting of 13 individual objects, resembles the phoenix, which settles down with spread wings – only to rise again in the next moment.
The phoenix is considered a mythical bird that burns and dies at the end of its life cycle, only to be reborn from its ashes and begin a new cycle. The red firebird stands as a symbol for the cycle of life, rebirth and all that many in society have always wanted: immortality and eternal existence.
However, the object owes its vitality not only to its graceful composition and the refined interplay of light and color, but especially to its arrangement. For the outward running ends of the “wings” rise and fall in different directions. Through this changing arrangement, each individual object is given a special momentum of its own, which is inspired by the light.
In addition to the outgoing liveliness, the “phoenix” also has the appearance of permanence, which is carried by the grace of the object and its coloring and gives the viewer the feeling of eternity.
